Djinasi
Primordial Children
True children of the elements, Djinasi are believed to be descendants of the ancient Djinn. Each Djinasi has an affinity with one of the 4 prime elements: air, earth, fire or water. Djinasi favor their element in both appearance and temperament.
Air djinasi typically have light blue skin, hair, and eyes. A faint but constant breeze accompanies them, tousling the hair and stirring the clothing. Some air djinasi speak with breathy voices, marked by a faint echo. A few display odd patterns in their flesh or grow crystals from their scalps.
Some earth djinasi always have bits of dust falling from their bodies and mud clinging to their clothes, never getting clean no matter how often they bathe. Others are as shiny and polished as gemstones, with skin tones of deep brown or black, eyes sparkling like agates. Earth djinasi can also have smooth metallic flesh, dull iron skin spotted with rust, a pebbled and rough hide, or even a coating of tiny embedded crystals.
Nearly all fire djinasi are feverishly hot as if burning inside, an impression reinforced by flaming red, coal- black, or ash-gray skin tones. Most have fiery red or coal black hair that writhes under extreme emotion. Fire djinasi voices might sound like crackling flames, and their eyes flare when angered. Some are accompanied by the faint scent of brimstone.
Most water djinasi look as if they just finished bathing, with beads of moisture collecting on their skin and hair. They smell of fresh rain and clean water. Blue or green skin is common, and most have eyes that are blue-black in color. A water djinasi’s hair might float freely, swaying and waving as if underwater. Some have voices with undertones reminiscent of whale song or trickling streams.
Anarchy or Freedom
Some view Djinasi as unpredictable as the elements they favor. A passionate people, a djinasi can be whimsical as a summer breeze or as severe as a rockslide. Friends of a djinasi will find them as comforting as a cozy fire and deep as a still pool.
Djinasi value their freedom over everything else. Many crimes in Telar carry a death sentence, and most djinasi view that as a small mercy.
Soldiers and Sailors
The Telarian Emirates are the thin line that holds the Wild Tide at bay. Under constant pressure from Knaraugh, the Djinasi have one of the largest and most effect militaries in all of Kumatha. Many Djinasi serve in the armed forces, taking great pride in risking their lives for the homeland.
